The prolife rally is this Saturday, starting at 1:45 at Depot Park. It is one of the most important spiritual gatherings of my year. It is a protest against the legalization of abortion and a memorial service for those millions of unborn children killed. However, it is so much more than that... It is an expression of joy for the life and specialness God has given to each one of us, a chance to set aside differences, an encouragement to believe in miracles, and a spiritual revival.

Though I desperately want to see the abortion laws changed, and the sooner the better, I don't view changing laws as the ultimate goal. A self-centered, godless mentality is the soil in which abortion is flourishing. The laws are only a reflection of our rebellion against God. A higher goal would be to change people's hearts by bringing the reality of our glorious God to everyone we encounter. To accomplish this, our prolife actions must radiate like spokes from a central point of faith, love, and worship. Our final goal must be that the Earth may know that there is a God who treasures us, imparts to us inestimable worth, and wants personal relationship with us. The prolife rally is an opportunity to deepen our connectedness to God and to each other. I pray that we keep humble teachable hearts and always respond in love.
