NEGATIVE CAMPAIGNING

I am flabbergasted when I read that the polls suggest that people view John McCain’s campaigning as more negative than Barack Obama’s. When the severity of the economic crisis became known to the public, Obama and his spokespersons were quick to jump on the blame Bush/McCain bandwagon for the crisis, and McCain’s popularity dropped precipitously. The FACT that McCain’s being to blame was blatantly FALSE was missed—apparently because we were looking for a scapegoat and because Obama said it in such a calm, cool manner. Even though it is documented that McCain raised concerns about Freddie Mac and Fannie May and cosponsored the Federal Housing Regulatory Reform Act in 2005 as a piece of legislation to regulate them, Obama’s blaming McCain has stuck in many minds. Yet, Obama’s grievous vote-swinging lie is not seen as negative campaigning, and his negative ads are seen as less than McCain’s. McCain was late in stating negatives about Obama, and when he and Sarah Palin finally started passionately making TRUE statements about the negatives of Obama, they are chastised for negative campaigning. Americans have the right to know the frightening truth about Obama. What is told about Obama in the so called negative ads are truths that place our democracy, sovereignty, and economy in grave peril should we have the misfortune that he be elected. I hope McCain, Palin, Fox News and the various talk radio hosts they keep it up and voters are able to see the truth for what it is.
