TEACH BOTH EVOLUTION AND CREATIONISM

Disregard of the scientific support for creationism rightly causes heated debate. Promotion of Neo-Darwinian evolution theories of our origin strikes at the core of a world-view. Through experience, many have come to accept the Biblical preciousness of each human individual in God's sight, and the superior capacity of humans for relationship with our Creator that can optimize our unique gifts and circumstances and overcome weakness and depravity. This marvelous biblical view of humans is not found in the atheistic evolutionary view of origins nor in that of Deism, that holds that God created the world and life and then left it alone (left it to evolve?)

There are volumes of books by esteemed grandly credentialed writers about the scientific basis for doubting macro--evolution and supporting creationism. The theory that life's complexity arose by chance (without intelligent input) from spontaneous chemical action in a primordial soup after a Big-Bang is only one item that is refuted multiple ways.

I think it might be most useful to teach our children to make scientific decisions, testing the two theories to see whether evidence provides stronger arguments for one theory over the other based on models and predictions.

I have no need of scientific proof that the Bible is true or that God exists. But how fabulous it is to see progression toward a synthesis of science and religion--a unity sought by humans throughout history. I can think of no intelligent reason to fight the fact that science progressively supports the special-ness of the human individual and the existence of a Creator.
